The V8 Vantage Roadster is a strict two-seater, with the rear environment offering a large luggage shelf area accessed by a tailgate. The long bonnet and two-seater cabin create an instantly recognisable stance. It looks pretty much like a DB9, and if we saw one on the street, we'd think it is a DB9. The designers at Aston Martin are getting lazy, but we don't know if we should complain about a cheaper car that looks like a DB9. The all-new engine from 2009 is a 4.7-litre aluminium alloy V8, hand-built in Germany, where every Aston Martin engine is built, mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed Sportshift automanual. In 2012, the 6-speed was replaced with a newer 7-speed automanual transmission. Constructed from lightweight aluminium extrusions, precision castings and pressings, the underframe is bonded with aerospace adhesives and mechanically fixed with self-piercing rivets. The unique architecture provides an excellent backbone, while the use of materials such as lightweight alloys, magnesium and advanced composites for the body further contributes to the car's low weight and high rigidity. Offered with a combination of different leathers, contemporary fabrics and aluminium, V8 Vantage Roadster customers will have an extensive choice of standard body and trim colours from which to choose. Features include a CD stereo, power seats, leather upholstery, alloy wheels and all the usual power accessories, as well as front and side airbags, stability control and ABS. In 2012, a V8 Vantage S Roadster made it's debut with slightly more power and has a new 7-speed automanual transmission.
