Ferrari 360 2001 Overview

The 360 is a mid-engined two-seater sports car, designed as a high-tech replacement for the simplistic F355, while itself being replaced by the F430 for 2005, effectively giving the 360 the short shelf-life. For this model, occasionally known as the F360, Ferrari partnered with Alcoa to produce an all-aluminium space-frame chassis. Also new was the Pininfarina styling that gave up flip-up headlights, replacing them with rounded fixed units. The new 3.6-litre V8 engine came with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed F1-style automanual. The cabin was sparse on gadgets, but the basics were standard, including leather, CD stereo, power windows, electric mirrors, front airbags, ABS brakes, and stability control. The coupe version was called the 360 Modena, while the new-for-2001 convertible was called the 360 Spider. The lightweight 360 Challenge Stradale came later, with 110 kg shaved off, a bump up in power from the upgraded V8, and featuring 19-inch BBS wheels, carbon-fibre side-mirrors, updated front bumper, lower ride height, and a black mesh grille at the rear.

Ferrari 360 2001 Reliability & Resale Value

Reliability
Resale Value
Known Problems First-year models had various factory recalls for braking and airbag electronics. Massive maintenance costs during every service, as many parts have to be replaced. Oil dripping out of front of the engine means cam cover gasket and possibly cam shaft seals need replacing. Cam belt, water pump and tensioner needs changing every 3 years or 50,000 kms, otherwise engine might blow up. Look for heavily worn clutch, ball joints, brakes and gearbox synchros, which are expensive to replace. Shocks last only 80,000 kms. Various small electrical faults come and go. Dashboard components flex or melt over time due to sun exposure.
