Nissan Xterra 2012 Overview
The rugged Xterra debuted in the GCC during late 2007 and got a facelift for the 2009 model year. The Xterra is a simple but capable alternative to the Pathfinder, incorporating as much off-road gear while originally forgoing most luxury features, but Nissan did add a few conveniences in 2009 due to customer demand. The five-seater Xterra is powered by the Pathfinder's 4.0-litre V6 engine, with four-wheel-drive, low-range gearing and either a six-speed manual or a five-speed automatic. All 2009 Xterra trims now have a redesigned front end featuring two new grilles, namely sandblast aluminium finish on X, S and Off-Road models, and satin chrome finish for Xterra SE models. New features include rear a/c ducts, new audio package including six-disc in-dash changer, redesigned centre cluster, push-button a/c, Bluetooth handsfree phone and iPod connectivity. Side steps and cloth upholstery are standard on the S model, while leather seats and illuminated steering-wheel switches are standard on the SE model. A new Off Road model includes body side molding, unique two-tone seat fabric, rear differential lock, heavy duty Bilstein shock absorbers, and BF Goodrich off-road tyres on new 16 inch alloy wheels. A GPS navigation system is also available. All models feature power windows and mirrors, power steering, CD audio system, remote keyless entry, alloy wheels, low tyre-pressure indicator, 60/40 split folding rear seat, available fold-down front passenger seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Standard safety features include dual front airbags, ABS brakes with brake-force distribution and brake assist, although side-curtain airbags may be available in some markets. Key exterior styling features include large flared fenders, big roof rails and a rear bumper design with side steps for easy access to the roof rack.
