Proton GEN-2 2009 Overview
The Gen2 is probably the most competitive model in Proton's line-up. Its chassis is engineered with the help of Proton-owned sports car maker Lotus, with engines derived from Mitsubishi. Powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder, this five-door hatchback can be had with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. The car is available with cloth upholstery, front power windows, trip computer, 60/40 split folding rear seats, keyless entry, 15-inch alloy wheels, central locking and CD stereo with four speakers and steering wheel-mounted controls. Options include a 10-disc CD changer, rear power windows, rear spoiler, cruise control, leather seating, fog lamps and metallic paint. Safety features include optional ABS brakes, dual front airbags and seat-belts for all seating positions. The Gen2 is not available in all Middle East markets. As far as we know, it is only available in a handful of GCC countries, and might not offer all the optional extras. It first came to Saudi Arabia in 2007, and UAE in late 2011.
