The Avalon, in this rendition since 2005, has been facelifted for 2011, with new front and rear designs as well as a mildly updated interior. Engineered and built by Toyota's U.S. division, it remains unchanged mechanically. Power comes from a carryover 3.5-litre V6, mated to front-wheel-drive and a 6-speed automatic. Inside is a comfortable cabin lavished with tasteful materials and ergonomically-designed controls that makes this car a pleasant and cheaper alternative to a Lexus. Now available in only one trim level in the UAE, standard features include a sunroof, 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lamps, HID headlights, power windows and mirrors, intelligent keyless entry with starter button, CD/MP3 stereo with AUX and USB port as well as 9 speakers, Bluetooth, navigation, rear-view monitor, leather seats, wood trim, cruise control, dual-zone auto a/c, power sunshade, powered front seats with driver-side memory, and most importantly, front seat heaters. However, Saudi Arabia gets two lower-trim models more, with fabric seats and fewer features. Safety features include front airbags, side and curtain airbags, a front knee airbag, stability control and ABS with EBD.
