The Corolla is a bestseller among compact sedans in this region, relying on reliability and economy to keep it competitive. Fully redesigned for the 2008 model year, the Corolla sedan was facelifted for the 2011 model year, featuring new front and rear ends. The base Corolla offers long-term value for money and comes standard with a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine with a new 6-speed manual or an old 4-speed automatic, air conditioning, a radio cassette player, manual windows, dual front airbags, 15-inch steel wheels and a cloth interior. Everything else is optional depending on trim, including power windows and mirrors, ABS brakes, keyless entry, fake wood trim, parking sensors and a CD/MP3 player. The better engine is a 1.8-litre 4-cylinder again with either a new 6-speed manual or an outdated 4-speed automatic, with similar options. Some cars are imported from Japan, but others come from Taiwan.
