BMW X1 2013 Overview

The BMW X1 is the smallest crossover SUV in the German brand. It got a facelift in 2013. Based on the 1-Series platform, complete with four-wheel-independent suspension and disc brakes, the X1 is their first SUV to be available in rear-wheel-drive form with the sDrive18i base model, sporting a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine. The other two models in the range are the all-wheel-drive xDrive25i and the xDrive 28i, both fitted with a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder engine in different states of tune, one with more power than the other. The interior features a new melted-look dashboard, with optional integrated iDrive that includes either the 6.5-inch Business or the 8.8-inch Professional navigation systems. Other available features, depending on trim level, includes various alloy wheels, Bluetooth phone, dual-zone a/c, sunroof, cloth or leather upholstery, HID headlights, run-flat tyres, rear parking sensors, keyless entry, cruise control, immobiliser and the usual power accessories. Standard safety features include front and side-curtain airbags, stability control, and ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution as well as cornering brake control.

Known Problems In the US, there were recalls for the steering gearbox which may malfunction, occupant impact absorption may not function well, and the seatbelt which may not lock. Few reports of LED taillight bulbs blowing, interior rattle, and front suspension bump stops needing adjustment as it may cause a clunking noise.
