Jaguar XK 2008 Overview
The all-new Jaguar XK is the long-awaited successor to Jaguar's sports car franchise, and though its new face is decidedly controversial, it is still a very desirable car. The new-for-2007 XK comes as both a coupe and a convertible. Riding on a much longer wheelbase, the new aluminium-built XK offers substantially more interior space than the old model. The XK 4.2 model is powered by the corporate 4.2-litre V8, while the XKR gets a supercharged version of that engine. Both engines are mated to a six-speed manual gearbox with paddle shifters. Its rigid chassis and the latest CATS adaptive suspension aim for a smooth ride and sporty cornering. Standard equipment includes DVD navigation, keyless entry and keyless start, a seven-inch video display, Bluetooth capability, cruise control, a 6-CD/MP3 player, rear park assist, cruise control, and electronic parking brake. Options include adaptive cruise control with a forward-alert system that sounds an audible warning, full soft leather upholstery, and a 520-watt Alpine sound system with eight speakers. Safety feature include front and side airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, dynamic stability control with a track feature, and electronic rollover mitigation.

| Known Problems | Mechanically fine, but various owners of first-year 2007 models have suffered a random number of electrical issues, involving the dash lights, Bluetooth phone, LCD touchscreen, cloth-top operation, stereo, power windows, battery, power seats or false warning lights. The front floor may get wet from a/c condensation unless a revised evaporate drain tube has been installed. The brake pedal may need extra pressure to start the engine due to the brake light switch out of adjustment or incorrect ABS pressure setting. A knocking noise from the front end may be due to a dislocated lower control arm bushing for the stabiliser bar. The seatbelt warning light and chime may activate intermittently, even passenger seat is empty, due to a faulty seat occupant sensor. The remote keyless entry may not work within 10 minutes of locking the vehicle and, after opening the door manually, the engine may not start unless the central and auxiliary junction box software has been updated. Noise from the front suspension when going over bumps unless shock absorbers have been replaced with revised units. Wind noise on convertibles is due to a gap where the roof meets the top of the rear fenders. |
