Lexus GS 2013 Overview

The Lexus GS is all-new for the 2012 model year, gaining a new entry-level trim but losing the V8 at the top end. The new models include the GS 250 and the GS 350, with the GS 450h hybrid joining the range later. The GS 250 comes with a 2.5-litre direct-injection V6 and a 6-speed automatic with paddles. The GS 350 comes with a 3.5-litre direct-injection V6, also with a 6-speed paddle-shiftable automatic. The GS 450h comes with a 3.5-litre engine mated to a compact, water-cooled electric motor powered by a nickel-metal hydride battery pack, and a CVT automatic. Identifiable by its new 'spindle' grille and LED running lamps, the GS comes in various trim levels. The GS 250 can be had in various trims. The base model comes with 18-inch alloys, smart keyless entry and start, moonroof, fabric upholstery, powered front seats and steering wheel adjustment, rear camera, 12-speaker CD/MP3/DVD stereo with USB/AUX ports, Bluetooth, cruise control, bi-xenon headlights, parking sensors, dual-zone auto a/c, and a "dynamics management" system. Higher trim levels add ventilated front seats, leather seats, and an 8-inch screen with hard-drive navigation. The GS 350 also comes in various trim levels, the basic version getting all the features of the top GS 250, as well as a card-type key. Higher trim levels include turning headlights, nicer leather, further-adjustable front seats, 17-speaker stereo with a 12.3-inch screen, radar cruise control, adaptive variable suspension, heads-up display, pre-crash safety system, and lane-change assist. The top GS 350 comes with an F-Sport package that includes 19-inch wheels, special upholstery, four-wheel-steering and a body kit. The GS 450h, available in only a few GCC markets such as the UAE, comes only in fully-optioned F-Sport trim. Standard safety features include front, side, curtain and knee airbags, as well as stability control, and ABS with EBD and brake-assist.
