The attractive GranTurismo is a modern replacement for the 4200GT coupe, derived from a shortened Quattroporte platform. The sizeable GranTurismo is a pure Italian, given its Ferrari-developed engine and mechanicals, powered by a 4.2-litre V8 mated to a 6-speed automatic that adjusts to individual driving styles. An S version ups the ante with a new 4.7-litre V8, mated to a 6-speed MC-Shift automanual. A lighter GranTurismo MC Stradale made its debut later on in 2011 and had little more power, as well as some exterior modifications to improve aerodynamics. Everything can be customised, including the interior, which can be had in a choice of 10 colours, accented by either wood or body-colour trim. This new-for-2008 two-door 2+2 coupe is a grand tourer rather than an all-out sports car, but still offers a balanced drive thanks to an optimal 49:51 weight distribution and sporting suspension. It is fitted with an automatic gearbox and equipped with an adaptive control system which adjusts the gear-shifting mode to the driving style and conditions.
