Chevrolet Caprice 2006 Overview

The Caprice soldiered on for years on just minor updates, but it is still one of the few affordable large sedans in the market. It offers the choice of two powertrains, namely the 3.6-litre Alloytec V6 and the Corvette-derived 6.0-litre V8. The Alloytec V6 is available on the LS and LTZ models along with the Generation III V8 engine. However, there is a higher-output version of the V8 that is standard on the SS and the Royale. The Caprice uses a basic 4-speed electronic automatic transmission which includes an economy programme to ensure optimum fuel consumption and a power shift program to facilitate quick downshifting when required. The Royale has a chrome grille while the SS has a monochromatic paint job, whilst all models now have LED brake-lamps that increase in intensity depending upon the brake pressure applied. Latest optional features include front and rear proximity sensors, twin DVD screens, satellite navigation and a leather interior. ABS Brakes and traction control are also available throughout the range.
