Ford Edge 2013 Overview
The Edge debuted for the 2007 model year, and has been heavily revised for 2011, with a new face, higher-quality interior, better entertainment features and two engines to choose from. The updated Edge features a big new version of the corporate chrome grille, along with new headlights, tail lamps and wheel designs externally. A new Edge Sport model can be had with a blacked-out grille, smoked headlights and huge 22-inch alloys. The newly-designed interior still features seating for five with a fold-down rear seat to maximise cargo room, as well as a soft-touch dashboard, optional mood lighting and better materials. The Edge SE, Edge SEL and Edge Limited models are powered by an upgraded 3.5-litre V6, while the Edge Sport gets a 3.7-litre V6. Both engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, and available with front-wheel-drive or an all-wheel-drive system without low-range gearing. Standard features include cloth upholstery, 18-inch alloy wheels, manual a/c, power accessories and a CD/MP3 stereo. Moving up the trim levels, a number of options become available, including a panoramic Vista Roof, six-way power-adjustable front seats, Ford MyTouch touchscreen with SYNC voice-controlled multimedia computer and Sony stereo, USB and SD card ports, Bluetooth phone, dual-zone a/c, leather upholstery, remote starter, keyless entry with starter button, power-operated tailgate and more. The Edge Limited is the only one to be offered with options such as HID headlights, adaptive cruise control and 20-inch alloys, but the Edge Sport is the only one to get the black grille, paddle shifters, larger engine, stiffer suspension and 22-inch wheels. Standard safety features include Advance Trac with Roll Stability Control, front and side airbags, Safety Canopy side-curtain airbags with rollover detection, hill start assist, tyre pressure monitor and ABS, with options such as blind-spot monitor, rear camera and cross-traffic detection.
