The X-Type is an elegant entry-level Jaguar that loses none of its charm thanks to great styling and suspension tuning. It is, however, based on the lowly Ford Mondeo platform, as evidenced by a front-wheel-drive base model. The higher models do benefit from full-time all-wheel drive, which improves traction in all road conditions. Sold mainly in sedan guise regionally, the basic front-driven car can be had with a 2.1-litre V6, while the all-wheel-drive models can be had with either a 2.5-litre V6 or a 3.0-litre V6. All cars land in this region with a five-speed automatic gearbox, though you could probably special-order a manual version if you really wanted one.
