BMW Alpina B7 2011 U.S. launch announced
BMW North America have announced that the new BMW Alpina B7 will join its U.S. line-up as a 2011 model and is due to be officially launched at the Chicago Auto Show in February. For those keeping tabs, the B7 first went on sale in Abu Dhabi through the local BMW dealer.
The Aplina B7 upgrades the BMW 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged engine from 400 hp to 500 hp, and 700 Nm of torque helps it do the 0-100 kph run in 4.8 seconds. Keeping highway acceleration in mind, maximum torque is available between a wide range, from 3000 rpm to 4750 rpm.
The ride height has been reduced 15 mm in the front and 10 mm at the back for improved handling. It has a more tuned suspension along with 21-inch wheels having the traditional Alpina 20-spoke design wrapped around in MICHELIN PS2 tyres measuring 245/35 R21 in the front and 285/30 R21 in the rear.
The exterior gets front and rear spoilers which gives it more downforce along with sportier looks. The interior is given high quality wood trim and other luxury bits to complete the Alpina transformation. The Alpina B7 will be available in both standard and long-wheelbase versions.
It is already in Dubai and Abu Dhabi showrooms, as reported earlier. For latest prices of the GCC-spec 2010 visit the BMW 7-Series buyer guide. Also, an in-depth review of the BMW 750Li can be found here.
