Abu Dhabi Motors records 31% growth in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain

Building on its 2009 success, Abu Dhabi Motors has experienced further growth in the first quarter of 2010. The exclusive importer of the BMW Group in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain ensured a perfect start to the new decade with a 31% increase in sales over the same period last year, making Abu Dhabi the second best-performing market in the BMW Group Middle East.

The highest selling model was the flagship BMW 7 Series, which experienced a growth of 119%. This was followed closely by the BMW X6 with a 24% increase and the BMW X5, with a 22% increase.

Sales of MINI, the small car with a big attitude, also spiked in the first quarter of the year, with a 19% increase over the corresponding period in 2009.

Commenting on this healthy performance, Arno Husselmann, General Manager of Abu Dhabi Motors, said: “We are obviously delighted with these results and feel they are testament to the great efforts made by our sales and marketing staff who have put an enormous amount of time and commitment into promoting all our BMW Group brands. In addition we are achieving impressive Customer Satisfaction results.”

“We launched a brand new BMW model during the first quarter of this year – the all-new BMW Gran Turismo and just recently launched a totally new designed and engineered BMW 5 Series model, and both models have received a lot of attention. We are also delighted that our flagship 7 Series continues to do well – proving the ongoing desirability by Abu Dhabi customers to buy the very best a brand has to offer,” added Husselmann.

Abu Dhabi Motors also recorded success with BMW’s pre-owned cars offering, BMW Premium Selection. The innovative programme, which puts cars through a 75-point check and requires that they have been driven less than 100,000 km to be sold, achieved an 8% rise in sales.

Buoyed by the impressive debut of the new Ghost, Abu Dhabi saw substantial growth in the Rolls-Royce business, with sales more than doubling in the first quarter 2010 compared to 2009. The growth confirms Abu Dhabi’s dedication to individuality and exclusivity, and once again places it among the top selling markets for Rolls-Royce automobiles in the world.

Over the past twelve months Abu Dhabi Motors has achieved significant milestones including the recent opening of brand new facilities in Al Ain, a state-of-the-art showroom and service centre as well as heavy investment in training for sales teams. The company is also extensively re-developing its Umm Al Nar showroom which will include a dedicated MINI and BPS showroom.

Such ongoing investment is testament to the continuous strong demand in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain for BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce
