Peugeot 308 GTi launched
Peugeot has brought back the GTi name with the launch of the new 308 GTi. The Peugeot 308 model is a highly under-rated car in this region, as the hatchback craze is not as popular here as in Europe.
Externally, the differences between the GTi and the other models in the 308 range include a black carbon-style insert under the front bumper lower skirt, a lower front panel derived from the 308 CC, a lower rear bumper panel with Perla Nera black diffuser, a rear spoiler, twin chrome exhaust pipes and some GTi badges. Internally, the GTi gets an aluminium foot rest and gear knob, leather sport steering wheel with aluminium flattened lower edge and thumb rests, and piano black fascia.
Equipped with a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine, which was co-developed with BMW, it produces 200 hp and 275 Nm of torque. The maximum hp is reached when the rpm hits 5500 rpm and the maximum torque is available as early as 1700 rpm. All this power can be controlled through the use of the 6-speed manual gearbox. Along with being fun, the manual gearbox and turbo definitely help in getting good some fuel economy numbers, which is as low as 6.9 l/100 km.
Handling will be exceptional with the Peugeot 308 GTi, as the chassis characteristics have been made to match the engine. 225/40 R18 tyres have been wrapped around the rims and large brake discs have been fitted to increase stopping power. The ride is 10 mm lower than the normal 308 models. Having tested the 2008 model Peugeot 308, you can expect this car to take sharp corners at some high speeds.
The Peugeot 308 GTi should hit the streets of Dubai and Abu Dhabi within the year. For all the latest news and updates on the Peugeot 308 model in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and GCC, check out the Peugeot 308 buyer guide.

ajay
guys can anyone tell m,e the difference between 1 din and 2- din casst player
Asad
^
1 din is a single cassete player or cd player and fits standard in most of the old vehicles and some new
2 din usually has the cassete player and cdplayer/dvdplayer or navigation incorporated into one unit. As it is larger in panel height, only some old vehicles have fitting compatibility or else you will need to additionally fit a seperate console before fitting the 2 din unit in.

^^^ Pardon me.. off topic

@ROJ – I read you man. I test drove the newer 308s as well but somehow happy with my 2ltr 307…although the newer ones are surely more torquey

i dont know why.but i like japanese cars more than frensh ones
azar
i mean i feel frensh cars are never sporty
ROJ
No the French are the ones that know how to build sporty compact hatches… They do handle better than any bouncy Japanese car of its class..
ROJ
But the Japanese are technically less complicated, easier and cheaper to fix…
