Toyota recalling Lexus LS, GS & IS engines
In continuing recall woes for Toyota, the Japanese firm has announced that it will recall about 270,000 Toyota Crown and Lexus LS, GS and IS models worldwide, but only those fitted with the 4.6-litre V8 and the 3.5-litre V6 engines. Apparently some of these motors were built using faulty valve springs that may cause the car to stall while driving. Around 180,000 of these cars will be recalled outside Japan.
The only Lexus models that would be affected in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the GCC in particular would be the Lexus LS460, Lexus LS600hL, Lexus GS350 and Lexus GS460, as the others aren’t officially available here. Toyota will start the recall procedure to fix the problem as soon as it can figure out a way to do so efficiently, as the cars will have to sit in the dealer garage for a while.
Update: The Dubai dealer for Lexus has announced the recall of almost 1,400 customer cars in the UAE. These will only include 2007-2008 LS460 models. Problems in the affected cars may be characterised by rough idling, abnormal engine noises and sometimes stalling.

Whats going on with toyota these days? Well thinking about it… Some other carmakers will ignore matters until things get real bad..

This is the third time my new lexus RX350 (purchased in january 2010 has cut out while driving.Twice it has been in the garage for this reason. Last time they changed the battery. Again today the engine stalled while I was driving.
Other repairs since I purchased the car have included accelerator & steering column problems.
It is now at the stage that I think this car is plain dangerous and should be replaced.
Do I have the right to insist on a new car? Also how many other new car owners are in the same position as I am with my beautifully looking but terminally ill car.

^Wow, it sounds exactly like the problem described above in this recall, but the RX is not included. Keep pestering them. I don’t know if there is a consumer protection division within the Municipality in your country of residence, but that could be worth a shot.
