BMW 650i Convertible is first 2012 6-Series to debut
After revealing the so-called “concept” version of the near-production 2012 6-Series coupe, BMW has gone ahead and released full details on the actual 2012 650i Convertible, which is set to go on sale in the first half of 2011.
The 2012 BMW 650i is powered by a turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine that develops 400 hp between 5500 and 6400 rpm, and makes 610 Nm of peak torque between 1750 and 4500 rpm. The engine can be paired with either an 8-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission. The 650i Convertible can do the 0-100 kph run in 5.1 seconds with either gearbox, and top speed is electronically limited to 250 kph.
New features include Chassis Management, optional four-wheel Integral Active Steering, optional Active Roll Stabilisation, standard Dynamic Damper Control, Dynamic Brake Control, Start-off Assistant, automatic Brake Drying function and Brake Fade Compensation, standard 19-inch light-alloy wheels with all-season runflat tyres, standard 10.2 inch screen, LED fog lamps, optional Luxury Seating Package with front ventilated seats and active fatigue reduction, Automatic High Beams, Lane Departure Warning, Active Blind Spot Detection, Rear and Top View cameras, Parking Assistant, new 3D colour head-up display, optional Night Vision with Pedestrian Detection, Active Cruise Control with stop-and-go capability, and a CD/MP3 stereo with nine speakers or an optional Premium Sound Package that adds satellite radio, iPod and USB adapter, and the Premium HiFi system comprised of 12 loudspeakers and a digital amplifier.
The convertible as well as the coupe should become available in Saudi Arabia, UAE and other GCC countries early next year.

Pros:1-Good looking.. (at least they have not ruined it completely..)
2- Color of the front head lights is nice
Cons: exterior Could be better especially from a luxury brand like BMW 🙂
The real question here is, Can we really compare it with the Mercedes CL?? that’s the real question.
In terms of luxury? sportness?…(just an opinion)

Don’t know about luxury and sportiness, but the Merc CL still looks way better than this.

For me it actually looks better than the CL. This car is just fantastic.
What BMW is now doing for their interiors is greaaaaat. I love this new interior design. The best in the automotive industry really. I am not joking. That good it is.
In terms of sportiness, BMW is always better than Mercedes. Handling is better as well as grip. Mercedes are going for huge 6.2L engines that only give acceleration boost to their cars, but in the real world, and on a track, BMW is the car. Mercedes is never anywhere near BMW handling and gripping standards.
It is very well known that BMW cars always make you feel confident to drive them fast and taking hard corners with them. I am experiencing this with a 2009 BMW “X5”.
Wait for the M6 version to araise and see. That will be a killer. I am not expecting less than 555 HP like the X5M and X6M. I might be more. I hope. BMW never lets you down. You will always simle! 🙂
