UAE Drift event concludes in the UAE
UAE Drift launched Professional drifting last Friday by kicking off professional drifting in the middle east in dramatic fashion in the heart of Dubai in the UAE. Dubai the home of some of the biggest sporting events in the world would host the very first UAE Drift event.
Dubai Festival City would play host to the inaugural UAE Drift event which consisted of a mix of urban street designed track which pushed drivers to the absolute limit and at the same time made this one of the most spectacular motorsport events to hit the region this year.
UAE Drift 2010 showcased lots of dramatic driving and with a star studded line-up the anticipation was huge with record turnouts coming out the view this event. From the start it was evident the heat was effecting the both drivers and cars. First Casualty of the weekend was Irish Champion James Deane with gearbox problems in practice as well as other engine problems with drivers. From the start it was clear to see there were three guys really on the pace and keen to take home the first UAE Drift title. Remo Niezen, Nigel Colfer and Christy Carpenter.
In the final it was Nigel Colfer in the Nitto Tires S13 who took home the win after a hard fought battle with Remo Niezen in his Falken Tires BMW. After two very close wins it was Irishman Colfer who took the win. Fellow countryman Christy Carpenter took the Nexen tires S15 home in 3rd after having engine running problems all evening.
