Dodge Charger SRT8 2012 debuts with 6.4L HEMI V8
Dodge showed off the new 2012 Charger SRT8 at the Chicago Auto Show. Under the hood, the new 6.4-liter HEMI V8 offers more horsepower and torque than the old 6.1-litre HEMI V8. It will also have improved fuel efficiency.
The SRT8’s new engine produces 465 hp and 630 Nm of torque. It will get the outdated five-speed automatic transmission. Acceleration estimates suggest 0-100 kph to be less than 5 seconds, and a top speed of 280 kph. HEMI’s new V8 will also have the Fuel Saver technology which shuts off four cylinders during economical driving in order to save petrol. The Charger SRT8 now gets four-piston Brembo calipers and vented/slotted rotors measuring 14.2 inches up front and 13.8 inches in the rear. The Charger SRT8’s Ready Alert Braking system anticipates situations when the driver may initiate an emergency brake stop. New for 2012, the Charger SRT8 features an adaptive damping suspension. Drivers also can manually choose between ‘Auto’ and ‘Sport’ settings that quickly change the shock damping and harshness characteristics.
Exterior-wise, the Charger SRT8 has new front and rear fascias, along with a new rear spoiler The front grille, grille surround and Dodge crosshair feature high-gloss black finishes and the SRT badge. A newly sculpted hood features a 6.4-litre badge and black air exhauster for added engine cooling. In the rear, the Charger’s new taillamp design with 164 illuminating LEDs receives new 4-inch round dual exhaust tips and an SRT8 decklid badge. The SRT8 will ride on split five-spoke, 20-inch lightweight alloys.
Inside, carbon-weave aluminium interior trim pieces are integrated into the new instrument panel and shifter bezel. Heated and ventilated front seats are standard. Reactive headrests also are standard. The SRT logo is embroidered in the seat backs. Rear seats also are heated for passenger comfort.
There is a chance that the 2012 Charger SRT8 will be offered in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and other GCC countries by sometime next year.

This will be a 2012 model released Fall 2011 in the US. I recall reading that Dodge was going to put an 8-speed transmission and possibly include manual transmission in the next year models, not sure.
I preferred the previous 2006-2010 exterior and interior of 2008+. The RAM head has been removed. The new design looks worse on the V6 (because it doesn’t have the V8 as consolation), specially those scallops on the sides. And the front has been elongated like it’s a cousin of Evo or the snout of a dog (ridiculous, either way). But if they do decide to bring it here, wouldn’t it affect the Challenger sales?

This in a manual transmission???? Then there won’t be a second thought for me. This will be my ride.
Ramon
I hope they put the 8speed transmission though. It would certainly match this monster machine.

I live in Kuwait. I called the dealer and they said they won’t be bringing in the SRT8 (2012) to Kuwait. I asked if I could order it through them and they said that they wouldn’t be able to.
The sales rep told me that my best bet would be to order it from the States and ship it here.
My question is (because I forgot to ask) – would they service it if I got it here in Kuwait?
Secondly, which other GCC countries will be carrying the SRT8? I want to know the prices cause shipping can be quite expensive, so it may be cheaper to get it from a closer GCC state and ship to Kuwait than ship from the states. Though it could be that the states is cheaper. Just curious.
If you guys can shed some light for me, that would be awesome! Thanks!

The car’s not even properly out yet even in USA. We hear it might still come here next year, depending on demand.
