MINI Coupe 2012 prototype hints at reveal soon
So MINI is not really elated about their existing line-up comprising various sizes ranging from sub-compacts to crossovers, but all based on the same design – and probably this gave birth to their all new “super-compact” MINI Coupe. The performance focused Coupe is engineered to deliver the thrills of a go-kart and achieve performance figures which makes it the sportiest MINI ever.
There are four different engine choices offered with the Coupe — two variants of a 4-cylinder 1.6-litre turbocharged gasoline engine rated for 211 hp and 260 Nm of torque, and 184 hp and 240 Nm of torque respectively. A non-turbo four pot churning 122 hp and 160 Nm of torque, and a CRDI turbodiesel four-banger developing 143 hp and 305 Nm of torque are the other choices.
The Coupe features a long list of features starting with electric power steering, dynamic stability control, and an optional dynamic traction control system featuring electronic differential lock control, to the first-in-a-MINI active roof spoiler that extends automatically over speeds of 80 kph. MINI promises a rich interior too.
There is no word on pricing or availability of the Coupe though the official teasers hint at a debut soon. And what the UAE and GCC is destined to get remains a wait-n-watch scenario.
