Toyota Yaris 2012 hatchback debuts in UK
It easily goes without saying that Toyota Yaris rules the sub-compact car segment in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the GCC. First introduced in 2006, Yaris became such a hit among the public that it simply wiped off the competition, gaining much more success rate than its predecessors, the Tercel and the Echo. And probably that is why Toyota decided to refresh the ongoing Yaris instead of moping it off the line-up, like they did with its ancestors. Toyota UK has taken covers of their all-new 2012 Yaris – and we are probably looking at the same “global” shape that may enter our region too.
The Yaris in UK will be available with three different motors – a 1.0-litre three-cylinder VVT-i gasoline unit making 68 hp and 93 Nm of torque, a 1.3-litre four-cylinder Dual VVT-i gasoline engine housing 98 horses and 125 Nm of torque, and a 1.4-litre D-4D diesel engine good for 89 hp and 205 Nm of torque. The gasoline engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The 1.3-litre gasoline variant is optionally available with Toyota’s all new Multidrive S CVT transmission featuring manual mode with seven sequential steps. Other highlights include Toyota’s all-new Touch and Go multimedia system featuring a 6.1-inch colour LCD touchscreen, Bluetooth, rear parking camera, fog lamps, part-leather upholstery, rear privacy glass, panoramic glass roof, dual-zone climate control, automatic headlights and rain-sensing windscreen wipers, auto-dimming rear view mirror, vehicle stability control, smart key system and button start.
The new Yaris is expected to hit the showrooms in UK by coming September. The rejuvenated subcompact may also arrive in the UAE and other GCC markets possibly by the fall of this year. Prices are unknown for now, though it does not matter anyway.
Keep track of updates in the Toyota Yaris buyer guide.

And suddenly… the Toyota Yaris became a bit more interesting!
But why did they drop the 1.5litre petrol? Was it inefficient?
vivek
Yea..i find it quite neat looking actually..and those are the powertrains for the UK..we may have the 1.5L bethrol as well – but those 1.5l variants weren’t so succesful here anyway…more to do with prices i guess.

Well, I’ve never been in a 1.5l Yaris.
Also, quite true; I don’t see a lot of 1.5l models around.
The hatchback I’m looking forward to is the Veloster! I sort of like the unique doors, but, as it is well known, unique isn’t always cool. 🙂

Looks good. But still i don’t know. I am pretty much fed up with Toyota. I would rather buy a CHINESE car and expect to get problems than buy a Toyota and get problems which is unexpected.

Well..the new CEO of Toyota promises the forthcoming Toyotas to be the best ones ever….let’s wait n watch 🙂

I hope so. I like the ease of doing maintenance by ourselves in a Toyota.

In Oman Toyota is suffering & buyers actually. They dont give free service & also cars like yaris range from dhs 50,000-70,000 & corrola from 65,000-100,000, lowest being the 2010 model & also lower trims have manual windows up/down, everything is just crap about toyota now. Made in Taiwan & China parts.

except the steering wheel.. all i can see is a fancier looking hard plastic cabin :/

You can never expect those screens in your yaris unless you pay something like 81,000dhs..and the base price will be of like 45,000
same thing happened with prado..VX.L price is so near to the LC VX.R !

Yaris @ the end…!

the 1.3 should be fine with this gear box, and for the friend speaking about free service, toyota never give free service, and yeah, we are all fed up with toyotas because they turned to be too traditional, by the way, the new Lexus GS is coming soon, if any one is interested.

The Yaris was probably the smartest hatchback for it’s time. The only thing is that it is underpowered..with around 15 more HP out that engine and new transmission, I believe that this car will improve considerably. I am now searching for another car but my 2008 Yaris is the car I wont sell at all; I will keep my sweet reliability box in my garage for emergencies and guess what? The Yaris Hatchback-never the sedan- is the only Toyota with some soul:)

I was thinking about the Yaris and Tiida sales. But a thought came to mind….
Since the time i shifted to new place (its almost 1.5 years now), i saw only 2 Pajeros in parking in the beginning, today every 4th car in parking is a Pajero..

They run out of ideas of how to make cars look..
Sometimes if you keep it simple, like a VW, it will look far better than anything else..
wheing
Is it available now here in
uae?
