Ford Reveals Fiesta ST Concept
On the heels of the 2012 Ford Focus ST release, Ford unveils the Fiesta ST concept at the 2011 IAA Frankfurt Auto Show in a production-ready guise and hints at how the future Fiesta ST model may look when it joins its older brother in the global small car portfolio.
The 3-door Fiesta ST concept will be powered by the WRC-inspired 1.6-litre turbocharged “EcoBoost” engine featuring Twin-independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) creating a possible output of 180 hp and 240 Nm of torque propelling it from a standstill to 100 kph in less than 7 seconds with a top speed exceeding 220 kph. Mated to a 6-speed manual, the engine is tuned for better fuel economy and to deliver CO2 emissions lower than 140g/km. Tuned suspension geometry ensures active and capable handling.
A lowered stance, widened wheel arches filled with 17-inch alloy wheels, “Molten Orange” paint colour and full ST body kit incorporating a honeycomb mesh grill and a rear diffuser mirror the styling of the Ford Fiesta WRC. Recaro sport seats in a high-contrast interior continue the theme on the inside.
We like the idea of a Fiesta ST but similar to the Ford Focus ST; we are unsure if this model will ever make it to our local market if it goes into production.
