Ford Flex gets 2013 facelift and new MyFord Touch system
The Ford Flex has been facelifted for the 2013 model year, and is the first model to receive the updated version of the Ford MyTouch multimedia system. This move is intended to improve Ford Flex sales as well as address owner criticism of the touchscreen computer.
The 2013 Ford Flex gets a new nose, a mildly-updated interior and some new wheels. The standard model gets an upgraded 285 hp 3.5-litre V6 with better fuel economy, while the turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 remains optional in U.S. markets. Other updates include pushbutton start, rain-sensing wipers, optional rear inflatable seatbelts and various collision-avoidance tech borrowed from the Explorer.
While the previous Ford MyTouch was lauded as a technological breakthrough by easily-wowed media, the reality quickly set in for actual users, as they found the system too cluttered, complicated and slow to use daily. As such, Ford has introduced a new interface that is supposedly faster and more user-friendly. The software update will be made available to existing Ford owners as well.
Keep track of UAE and GCC updates in the Ford Flex buyer guide.
