Hyundai Genesis Prada 2012 GCC launch in Dubai
Hyundai recently launched the latest facelifted version of their Genesis luxury sedan in the UAE. Extending the range further is the Genesis Prada GP500 edition, which made its GCC debut at the 2011 Dubai Motor Show.
The Genesis Prada gets an additional GP500 badge to hint at the new direct-injection 5.0-litre V8 that is offered in Korean and American markets. Unfortunately, the direct-injection engine won’t make it to the UAE, and our version gets a 375 hp 4.6-litre V8, the engine that never made it here before. The Prada will be the only Genesis model here to get a V8, while regular Genesis models will continue to get the 290 hp 3.8-litre V6, again not the new direct-injection version that is offered elsewhere. However, all 2012 Genesis models benefit from a new 8-speed automatic.
From the outside the 2012 Genesis gains a slightly-redesigned face with LEDs in the headlights. The Genesis Prada additionally gets special metallic paint, unique 19-inch wheels, badges, a wedge antenna and an interior that uses signature Prada Saffiano leather instead of the regular upholstery materials.
Prada models will be limited to just 1,200 units globally. Initially offered in limited numbers in the Korean market, this is the first time that the Hyundai Genesis Prada is being exported to the Middle East, and will be followed by other Asian countries in the near future. We expect the price to be somewhere north of Dhs 200,000.
Keep track of updates in the Hyundai Genesis buyer guide.
