2013 Jaguar XJ and XF receive new powertrains and all-wheel-drive

British automaker Jaguar has been making it to the news quite regularly these days, with rejuvenated models replacing the existing line-up, and this time it is their flagship XJ model and the XF model receiving the updates for 2013.

The 2013 Jaguar XJ will receive a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 engine, netting 340 hp, as the base engine. A limited-edition variant of the XJ, dubbed the XJ-L Ultimate, will also be introduced, based on the long-wheelbase XJ Supersport model, and boasting several luxury options, such as the bespoke rear seating area featuring individually tailored leather-clad power-adjustable ventilted rear-seats complete with massage and lumbar functions, unique 20-inch alloy wheels, power-operated rear table, a beverage chiller, a pair of Apple Ipad devices with leather-trimmed docks and wireless keyboards, a rear-entertainment system featuring two 8-inch screens supporting inputs from an array of digital devices, rear dual-zone climate control, and “Ultimate” badging .

Next in line for some rejuvenation is the Jaguar XF. The 2013 Jaguar XF will receive an all-new turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine rated for 240 hp and 340 nm of torque, as standard. Moving up the line, a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 motor will replace the ongoing naturally-aspirated 5.0-litre V8, while offering 340 hp and 450 nm of torque. Both the XF Supercharged and XF-R variants will receive the carry-over 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, tuned for 470 hp and 510 hp respectively.

Further to the new engine choices, all variants of both the XJ and the XF will receive an all-new 8-speed automatic transmission. The supercharged V6 variants of the XJ and the XF can also be equipped with Jaguar’s advanced rear-wheel-biased all-wheel-drive system, which can transfer up to 50 percent of the power to the front axle pre-empt, or upon encountering wheel-spin. The all-wheel-drive will be aided by the dynamic stability control system and ABS.

There is an optional speed pack available for the XJ Supersport and the XF-R models, and a Sport & Speed Pack for the XJ Supercharged variant, which adds functional aerodynamic enhancements, besides unlocking a top speed of 280 kph, and adding exclusive exterior and interior features in the XJ models. All of the Jaguar XJ and the Jaguar XF variants will also benefit from new premium audio systems by Merdian, and upgraded navigation systems with enhanced usability features.

Expect the new Jaguar XF and Jaguar XJ models to hit the shores of the UAE, Saudi Arabia and rest of the GCC, shortly.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the Jaguar buyer guide.

  1. The previous year model of the XJ cost 289K, so surely this is going above 300K. Lovely car though..

  2. Quote JC from Top Gear –
    “it’s a JAG!!!!”
    What a car!!!!

  3. The same powertrains and specifications were on the new Range Rover. Expect similar fr the sport too. No wonder fuel economy went up quite a bit. Weight loss, downsized engine and new transmission.
