2013 Volvo V40 R-Design debuts at Paris Motor Show

Volvo decided to use this year’s Paris Motor Show as the launchpad to release details of their latest creation, the 2013 Volvo V40 R-Design. Featuring some aggressive touches to the exterior, with an engine under the hood with enough oomph to match, the R-Design is looking to leave its mark in the sports-hatch segment.

To enhance the design from the regular V40, the front fascia gets a new grill and a more aggressive bumper with daytime running lights. The rear continues the aggressive trend with a diffuser kit and dual exhausts. The interior also gets a sporty touch with a sports steering wheel, some sports pedals and aluminium inlays.

Further upgrades can be made by the customer which includes embossed full leather-faced upholstery, active bending xenon headlights with headlight cleaning system, rain sensor, cruise control, keyless start and rear theatre lighting.

Getting to the internals, the V40 R-Design gets the T5 turbo engine which produces a very healthy 254 hp. There is also a diesel version available which churns out a measly 115 hp.

An optional Sport chassis further lowers the ride-height by 10 mm. The springs and shock absorbers have predictably firmer settings to enhance handling.

The 2013 Volvo V40 could makes it’s debut in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and other GCC markets by the middle of next year.

Keep track of latest prices and updates in the Volvo buyer guide.
