Fujairah number-plate auction raises AED 5.4 million

The special car number plate auction held by Fujairah Auctions, under the observation of the Fujairah Police, saw more than Dhs 5 million raised.

Some 41 different single-digit and double-digit number plates were on offer at the auction which was held at the Al Diar Siji Hotel in Fujairah.

The standout performer was the plate number E 1, which fetched in a cool Dhs 2 million. The second most expensive was the plate number E 8, which went for Dhs 600,000. Altogether a total of Dhs 5.4 million was raised in the auction.

An auction last May netted just under Dhs 750,000 each for numbers E 5 and E 7. The number plate auctions are going to be held every two months, with electronic auctions also on the way to start soon.
