Volkswagen Passat Performance Concept at Detroit Auto Show

Volkswagen Passat Performance Concept at Detroit Auto Show

Volkswagen have released a few images of the Passat Performance concept ahead of the Detroit Auto Show. It will be the sports version of the midsize sedan.

To spice things up, Volkswagen have added the turbocharged 1.8-litre 4-cylinder engine, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The motor produces 250 hp, 80 more horespower than the 2.5-litre engine found in the normal Passat. It sits slightly lower as well, as it gets a sport suspension to improve handling.

Exterior also gets some additions such as a dual exhaust, 19-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlights, LED taillights and carbon applications on its mirror caps. The carbon-look continues in the interior, with carbon-like touches on the dashboard to match the carbon-style inserts on the two-tone leather upholstery, and the black headliner and side pillars.

More details will be revealed at the Detroit Auto Show. When the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the GCC will get the Volkswagen Passat Performance model remains to be seen.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the Volkswagen Passat buyer guide.
