BMW rolls out final M3 Coupe…ever
Yes folks, it is true. The orange car you see here is the final M3 Coupe that will be made, as the production of the two-door, fixed-roof M3 has officially ended.
And by final, we not only mean the last M3 Coupe of this generation, but also that this is the last M3 Coupe ever! But everything good has to come to an end, and the next-gen car will be launched under the name “M4”, as per BMW’s revised nomenclature where coupes and convertibles will use even numbers, so the new 3-Series Coupe becomes the 4-Series for the 2014 model year. Thankfully though, there will be a new M3, but that badge is slated to be affixed on the four-door sedan version only.
BMW first launched the M3 Coupe in 1986, and since then, more than 40,000 examples have been built. Sedan and convertible versions were added later in the car’s life, and BMW says that the current 2013 model-year convertible will remain in production until September this year.
It still is unclear what exactly is in store for the new M4 Coupe, but it is expected to get a turbocharged 6-cylinder modded from the 335i.
