Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse revealed
One could argue that this is just another Gallardo. But what Lamborghini announced recently is the all-wheel-drive LP 570-4 Squadra Corse, and we feel it is something similar to the LP 570-4 Super Trofeo single-series race car revealed back in 2011. The world premiere of the new offspring is expected be held at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.
The Squadra Corse was named after a new department at Lamborghini Automobili, which handles all motorsports activities, such as the above-mentioned Super Trofeo one-make race series. And apparently, the street-legal Squadra Corse does share key components with the Super Trofeo – both of which are based on the Gallardo Superleggera. That includes the 570 hp V10 heart, carbon-fibre rear wings and a removable engine hood made with the same material.
But what’s interesting with the new raised rear wing is that it produces up to three times more downforce than what’s found on your average LP 560-4! Furthermore, the car has also shed pounds thanks to weight-saving materials and components. Overall, the Squadra Corse hangs in at 1340 kgs, which is 70 kgs lighter than the LP 560-4, and carbon-ceramic brakes are used to bring the bull to a full halt.
Apart from all that perplexity, carbon-fibre bucket seats with alcantara center inserts replace regular seats, though buyers can option them back in. The latter material also covers the underside of the dashboard. Door panels, centre console cover, handbrake frame and lower section of the steering wheel are all made from carbon-fibre.
Courtesy of all the weight savings, the Squadra Corse reportedly hits from 0-100 kph in a mere 3.4 seconds. The car tops out at an impressive 320 kph.
We’re expecting to see more details of the Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse next month at Frankfurt, following which we will get to know whether the street-legal racer will enter the middle-eastern roads.
