2014 Honda Civic Tourer set for Frankfurt Motor Show

2014 Honda Civic Tourer
For those who aren’t too happy with the Accord Crosstour that is sold in the GCC market, there’s hope for them yet. Honda has rather diligently revealed the specs of the Civic Tourer that is due to debut at the much awaited Frankfurt Motor Show, coming September.

By the looks of it, what Honda has done is let their European research and development team go out-of-the-box with the standard Civic. Still, the back lights do resemble the original, only to be seen with an extra Odyssey style full width tail-light connection.

Under the hood you will be getting the ‘Earth Dreams’ 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine or the 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, that will be coupled to either a manual or automatic transmissions. The latter produces 139 hp and 173 Nm of torque. Alongside that, there is also an adaptive damper system (ADS) that comes in three settings- comfort, normal and dynamic.

The Civic Tourer, as the name suggests, is designed to be a proper touring car. From what they say, we know that the car has a lower load height to allow easy access to the boot. There is also a slightly higher floor that has been arranged so that it creates a flat surface when the rear seats are folded. Honda also emphasises on the class-leading interior space with a cargo area that stands at 624 litres from the floor to the window line with the rear seats up, and 1,668 litres with the rear seats down and items piled up to the roof lining. But if that’s not enough, there is also extra storage below the flat-floor.

The Honda Civic Tourer is expected to debut next month, after which it is expected to make an early 2014 entry into Europe. However, we are not sure whether the Civic Tourer will enter the UAE, Saudi Arabia or GCC market. But if it does, it will be the third wagon or minivan-style vehicle in addition to the Accord Crosstour and the Odyssey.
