Hennessey’s McLaren MP4-12C is a 700+ hp beast
Over the years, we’ve known Hennessey to be the tuner who strives hard to push out every bit of craziness from their set of chosen vehicles. And they certainly don’t disappoint with their newly tuned McLaren MP4-12C.
And it’s not just a bunch of ‘Hennessey’ stickers we’re looking at. The engineers have worked hard to put the twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 through all the pain of dishing out a massive 704 hp. Apart from the engine unit alone, the rest of that juice comes from upgrades to the engine management software, intercooler, the new stainless steel exhaust system and dual air induction filters.
Basically, the software upgrade helps the car raise the turbo boost pressure to squeeze more power without any additional extras. But again, there’s the new intercooler and the new exhaust system that maxes out the engine to give a staggering 704 hp and 730 Nm of torque. And that amounts to 88 more hp than the McLaren they started with initially. The result is a 0-100 kph time of 2.8 seconds.
There’s still no word on the pricing of the MP4-12C with the HPE700 package or how many examples will be built.
