Fiat-Chrysler puts SRT under Dodge, announces Chrysler 100 and other future models

The newly-branded Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has announced a full-blown five-year plan for its extensive brand portfolio that includes Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Maserati and Ferrari. Some of the reshuffling sounds smart, a few baffling, and one a retraction of a previous decision regarding SRT.

Chrysler is introducing an updated 2015 300C at the Los Angeles Auto Show this year. In 2016, they will launch the Chrysler 100 compact sedan and the Town & Country minivan The yet-to-be-launched Chrysler 200 sedan already has a mid-cycle refresh planned for 2017, while an all-new large crossover will also be launched. In 2018, an all-new 300C will be launched, alongside an all-new midsize crossover.

The SRT brand will go back to Dodge exclusively as the latter becomes a “performance” brand, meaning the Viper will become a Dodge again. This also means the Chrysler 300C SRT8 will be killed soon, while the Jeep Grand Cherokee will soldier on for a little while before disappearing too. The refreshed 2015 Charger and Challenger models have already been launched, while a new supercharged Challenger SRT will debut soon. The Avenger will be cancelled. A refreshed Charger SRT and Viper will come in 2015. New Dart and Dart SRT turbo compact models arrive in 2016, as does a new Journey midsize crossover. In 2017, a new Journey SRT arrives, while the Durango gets refreshed. In 2018, a new sub-compact sedan and hatchback will be introduced, alongside all-new versions of the Challenger and Charger. No more Dodge minivans.

Jeep has already introduced the Renegade sub-compact crossover for 2014. In 2015, the Grand Cherokee will be refreshed again. In 2016, the Compass and Patriot will finally die, while an all-new compact SUV is launched and the Cherokee is updated. In 2017, the Renegade will be refreshed, while the all-new Wrangler and Grand Cherokee debut. In 2018, the all-new Grand Wagoneer fullsize SUV will be launched.

The Ram 1500 will be updated in 2015 and redesigned in 2017, among other changes to HD and van models.

Fiat will launch the 500X crossover in 2015.

Maserati will kill the GranTurismo and GranCabrio this year, but it will be back in 2018. Meanwhile, the Levante SUV will be launched in 2015, and the smaller Alfieri coupe and cabrio models in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

Alfa Romeo will launch two all-new midsize models, two compacts, one full-size sedan and two SUVs between 2015 and 2018. Word is their future models are going rear-wheel-drive.

Ferrari will launch a new model every year from 2014 to 2018, with four-year life-cycles and intentionally-limited production.

The good news is most of these models are destined for UAE, Saudi and other GCC markets.
