Hilux 2016_Exterior (8)

Toyota has introduced the eighth-generation Hilux which goes on sale from today in the GCC.

The all-new Hilux gets a new look, with the body sitting on a newly developed frame structure. The pick-ups are available in single and double cabins. The deck itself has been upgraded with structure panels that have been strengthened and reinforcements added underneath, while the deck floor ribs have been redesigned to better resist deformation during loading or unloading of heavy payloads.

Pretty much everything has been changed in the interior of the Thai-built pickup, from the seats to the a dashboard. A new Multi-Information Display (MID) on the instrument panel has been added. There is also increased legroom for the rear passengers.

Mechanically, the 2016 Hilux will offer a 6-speed automatic transmission, which gives a 15-percent better fuel economy rating than the previous generation model. Engine choices mostly remain the same, which includes the 2.0-litre and 2.7-litre petrol engines, and a new 2.4-litre diesel engine. They all can be had in either four-wheel-drive or two-wheel-drive.

Safety features for it includes front driver and passenger airbags, knee airbag for the driver, ABS, electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) seat-belt equipped on all seats except the centre seat.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar & GCC in the Toyota Hilux buyer guide.

  2. I love it…

  3. There is a correction, the diesel engine is an all new 2.4L replacing the old 2.5L with better power and strong torque figures. It is even torquer than the petrol V6.
