2016 Renault Megane previewed ahead of Frankfurt Motor Show
Renault has given us exterior images of the 2016 Megane before its full debut next week at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Renault claims the new Megane is going to be 25mm lower than the outgoing model, while it is has also been made slightly wider. The 28mm longer wheelbase provides more room for the rear passengers. The rear overhang has been reduced and chrome accents have been added to give it a more upscale look.
The Megane RS will have RS 18-inch wheels, a new Iron Blue paint and with a sporty front bumper which gets a bigger air intake and more aggressive air scoops, while the front grille adopts a honeycomb pattern. It can also be visually distinguished by the Renault Sport badging, subtle Dark Metal touches applied at the front and on the side mirror caps, while the rear end adds dual chrome exhaust tips.
Engine specs are still vague but the 2016 Renault Megane GT is expected to have a turbocharged 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine producing about 200 hp and and 260 Nm of torque. The Megane RS will most likely get a 1.8-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder unit which produces about 280 hp. Both engines will likely get the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
No interior shots have been revealed as yet which should appear when the Frankfurt Motor Show is in full swing.
It could arrive in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries early next year.
