2080 hp Arash AF10 to debut at Geneva

Not much importance was given to English sportscar-maker Arash when they came up with the AF10 supercar in 2009. With a little over 500 hp, the car didn’t sit well among supercar enthusiasts, thus leading to it being shelved. However, seven years later, the carmaker is back, with the same car, only it now produces a monstrous 2080 hp.

Apart from the power bump, the AF10 also benefits from a new front splitter, side skirts, a rear diffuser and a wider spoiler. Furthermore, the core of the chassis is formed by a carbon-fibre tub alongside aluminium sub-frames that are attached to the front and rear, along with double wishbone suspension and adjustable dampers. The car will ride on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tyres. An additional electro-hydraulic lifter will be fitted to the car to avoid scratches when going over speed bumps.

Underneath all the carbon-fibre lies a hybrid powertrain consisting of a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine and four electric motors. The engine alone produces a hefty 900 hp and 1200 Nm of torque, however, the electric motors- together, amass a total of 1180 hp and 1080 Nm of torque. In total, the car puts down 2080 hp and 2280 Nm of torque.

Power from the V8 engine is sent down through a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle-shifters, while the electric motors will be mated to a 2-speed gearbox. In ‘Race’ mode, the electric motors consisting of a 32-kWh lithium-ion battery will be recharged by regenerative braking energy or directly by the engine. This set-up should enable the car to accelerate from 0-100 kph in less than 3 seconds, before hitting the 323 kph mark.

Arash will also be showcasing their AF8 Cassini supercar at the show. Powered by a GM-sourced 7.0-litre V8 producing 550 hp, the car is more in line with the company’s earlier prototypes. The car will weigh 1200 kgs due to its carbon fibre construction, and will go from 0-100 kph in 3.5 seconds before maxing out at 315 kph.

Both the AF8 and the AF10 are production ready supercars which are due to be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Pricing for the AF10 will be more than US$ 1.5 million, where as the AF8 could be had for about US$ 240,000. Maybe a few will end up in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar or other GCC countries.
