2017 Suzuki Swift sketches leaked
A dealer conference held in Europe by Suzuki was the source of a leak about the new Suzuki Swift bound for a 2017 launch. The sporty little hatchback was released in 2005 and was revamped completely in 2011. After munching through 5 years of success with the new model, the Swift is starting to show its age. The mild facelift in 2015 couldn’t help it much, so the time is ripe to introduce a new version.
The design of the new Swift hasn’t strayed far from its current form, but has given it a completely new identity. The design chips in more muscle to the sporty bodywork while the headlamps get a proper revamp. The front portion gets a gaping grille, while the silhouette of the old Swift is retained. The floating roof is a new addition, thanks to the blacked out top portion of the C-pillar. The rear is detailed by the wraparound tail lamps, the beefy bumper and the twin tail pipes.
The interior of the Swift has been upgraded heavily with a flat-bottomed wheel, 2-pod gauge cluster, multi-information display and circular air vents. A body-colour insert runs through the middle of the dashboard. Suzuki has stepped up the overall quality a bit from the outgoing model.
The Swift is expected to showcase Suzuki’s new 1.0 BoosterJet turbo-petrol engine which will be good for 98.5 hp and 140 Nm of torque. The Sport model might retain the current 1.6 litre 4-cylinder engine which produces 134 hp along with 160 Nm of torque. The construction of the Swift will be on a new lighter platform.
The Indian-built Swift will spawn the new Dzire sedan which is expected to be showcased some time after the Swift’s first public appearance. Suzuki hasn’t announced the release date, but expect the car to hit European and Indian markets by the end of 2016 as a 2017 model. It will likely show up in the UAE and other GCC by mid-2017.
