Rimac Concept One electric hypercar beats Ferrari LaFerrari and Tesla P90D

As environmental agencies constantly remind us about ever-depleting fossil fuel reserves, an alternate power source is always good news. Electric cars were always a go-to option for scientists and researchers when it comes to employing renewable sources of energy for motoring applications. Electric cars have dramatically risen up recently, especially with the likes of Tesla, electric cars capable of achieving high levels of performance. And now, a small company comprising of 150 people from Croatia, Rimac Automobili has produced the Concept One, the world’s first electric hyper car with 1088 hp on tap. To be honest, the Concept One was introduced a while ago, with its first public appearance in the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. But the final version of the car was released at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show and it came with a host of new updates.

Recently, the limelight fell again on the Concept One with the release of a drag race video by Archie Hamilton Racing, who pitted the Concept One against the Tesla P90D and the LaFerrari. The results are staggering to say the least.

The Concept One is a hyper car by all standards. It is fitted with independent electric powertrains for each wheels. Each powertrain consists of an inverter, motor and gearbox. The distribution of power to the individual wheels is governed by the “All Wheel Torque Vectoring System” which considers user settings and driving conditions. A massive 1600 Nm of torque is available from 0 to 6500 rpm, thanks to electric propulsion. It reaches 0-100 kph in 2.6 seconds and the top speed is 355 kph. If these numbers don’t impress you, there is an even more bonkers track-focused version called the Concept S. The power output is an earth-shattering 1384 hp and the torque is a similarly ridiculous at 1800 Nm.
