2018 Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster revealed
Mercedes-Benz has chopped the roof off it’s flagship sports car and created the new 2018 AMG GT roadster. It has been revealed just a few days prior to this year’s Paris Motor Show where it’s first public appearance is slated to happen.
There are two models, both sporting the 4.0-litre biturbo V8 from the coupe. The less powerful model, the GT roadster, is based on the normal hardtop version and it produces 469 hp and 630 Nm of torque, which is 13 hp and 30 Nm more than what the Coupe churns out. The more powerful GT-C plays with 550 hp and 680 Nm. This slots it between the GT-S and GT-R coupe models. The 0-100 kph run is dealt with in 3.9 seconds by the normal GT roadster and in 3.7 seconds by the GT-C roadster.
The 7-speed dual clutch transmission is tuned to suit the GT-C’s ferocious power. The GT-C also gets Merc’s AMG Performance Exhaust system for some amplified aural delight. The GT-R coupe has handed over it’s Active Rear Wheel Steering system to the GT-C which will aid in improving the handling.
The soft top can be ordered in 3 colours, black, beige and red. Mercedes says that they have used a light-weight structure made out of aluminium, magnesium and steel. The top can be operated at speeds up to 50 kph.
The GT roadster models will arrive in US by mid to late 2017. Expect it to come to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC countries soon after that.
