2017 Nissan Sentra facelift adds SR Turbo to U.S. lineup
The Nissan Sentra is getting refreshed with the addition of a sportier version, the SR Turbo, which gets a turbocharged engine. The 2017 Sentra will feature a new face with Nissan’s V-Motion grille similiar to that of the Maxima and Altima.
In the Sentra SR Turbo, the engine is a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder unit producing 188 hp and 240 Nm of torque. The addition of forced induction has bumped the power up by 64 hp and torque by 70 Nm over the current 1.8-litre version. The engine is connected to a CVT or a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Sentra SR Turbo also gets a revised suspension and steering rack, better brakes and a stiffer chassis. The Active Understeer Control System helps improve handling.
The Sentra gets new added options such as LED projector headlights, side skirts and a rear spoiler while the SR Turbo gets additional 17-inch aluminium-alloy wheels. The interior gets a few revisions in the form of a siding moonroof, premium cloth seats and a 5.8-inch touch screen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An optional SR Turbo Performance Package adds leather seats, BOSE audio system, blind spot monitoring system and rear cross traffic alert.
Whether the Sentra SR version will make its way to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC markets remains to be seen.
