2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe revealed ahead of Detroit debut

The new 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe has been revealed ahead of its launch at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show, slated to happen in January. The 2018 E-Class Coupe carries the new Mercedes design language that first appeared on the S-Class.

The front sports a pure E-Class fascia while the rear displays some S and C-Class Coupe character, thanks to the horizontal tail lights. The B-pillar-less side window design is reminiscent of the S-Class Coupe.

The interior is no different from the E-Class sedan. Two massive screens that span almost half the length of the dashboard house the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system.

The E-Class Coupe will be offered with a range of petrol, diesel and hybrid engines. But as of now, only the E400 with a 3.0-litre bi-turbo V6 will be available. This engine produces 329 hp and 479 Nm of torque directed to the rear wheels or all four wheels if you go for the optional 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. The E400 is capable of doing a 0-100 kph run in just 5.2 seconds and the top speed is 208 kph.

A few AMG versions will also make its way into the E-Class Coupe range. The E43, E63, E63S and a new model, the E50, are expected to be added to the portfolio. The E50 will feature a high-output bi-turbo V6 engine, further diluting the AMG brand.

In the United States, the 2018 E-Class Coupe will be available at dealers by the next summer. More details regarding the E-Class Coupe will be announced once it hits the show stand at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. Expect a UAE and GCC launch by late summer next year.
