Long-term update: Nissan Patrol dealer service costs in Dubai
Six months had passed since the first free service at 1000 km, so we took in our 2014 Nissan Patrol LE for its first paid service at the Dubai dealer.
There were a few issues with our car too. The fuel gauge kept showing random readings each time we start the car, so we were judging fuel levels solely by the “Range” displayed on the trip computer. A front-seat plastic panel had dislodged when we got the leather fitted the last time. And our car had been riding harshly ever since we got it (compared to other Patrols we’ve driven), with a steering-wheel vibration at 140 kph — possibly a condition of sitting unused for almost 2 years before we bought it new. We reported all these when we went in for service.
We had opted for “10,000 km” synthetic oil. The basic service cost Dhs 827. There was some “discount” of Dhs 55.
They popped the seat panel back in for free. They charged us Dhs 220 for the tyre balancing. And Dhs 200 was charged for the petrol when they were testing the fuel gauge, which they “reset” as per the service advisor.
We feel the car still rides a bit harshly (for a Patrol), but better than before. Our friends say it is the smoothest car they’ve ever ridden in, so who knows. The steering vibration at 140 kph is now down to a minor jitter. But the fuel-gauge issue came back in exactly one day. We’ll get it addressed at the next service.
The 400 hp engine now has 3,000 km on the odo. Last September, the 0-100 kph time was 7.7 seconds. This week, we tested it again and it did 7.1 seconds. The cooler weather helps, although as the engine is broken in further, it should get even quicker. Hopefully the poor fuel economy will continue improving too.

Mash, shouldn’t your insurance and registration be included in your total non-fuel running cost? 🙂

I don’t add them since insurance costs vary from person to person. We get a better deal than most, having built up years of claims-free driving.

should be minimum every 10k or once a year…not 6.months… what’s wrong with these people? why are they intent on dictating nonsensical parameters.

Looking forward to this thread for long time to come cos I am a Patrol fanboy and can’t afford one. Big pocketers are laughing in the background why the chose Toyota LandCruiser…

hello mash, I just bought a new Nissan patrol platinum, when we got the vehicle we were told that we could keep the special 95 petrol, while some of my patrol owner friends say that super petrol is better than special 95, suggest which one should be used in the patrol.

If it has a VVEL badge in the back, it is best to use Super 98, although Special 95 works too, with less performance.
