2019 Audi A1 introduces a new generation inspired by UrQuattro
The Audi A1 gets a complete makeover for 2019 to make the crispy little hatchback even sharper, continuing Audi’s push into mainstream territory in a bid to woo younger buyers.
Stretching out at 4.03 metres in length and 1.74 meters in length, the Audi A1 is quite a small car, but the design inspired by the legendary Audi UrQuattro gives it an aggressive face. The roof is deeply sloped and the front fascia is made more aggressive than before due to the new headlamps, grill, and bumper. Opting for the S-line model will add larger air intakes, a slim vent below the hood line and a larger rear wing. Wheels are offered in 15, 16, and 17-inch sizes, the latter of which is available in Black or Platinum Grey options.
The 2019 Audi A1 is powered by either the base 3-cylinder engine with 95 hp or the turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine with up to 200 hp. The base model can be had with a six-speed manual gearbox or an S-Tronic dual-clutch option while the more powerful model can only be fitted with the S-Tronic.
Though it is the cheapest Audi available, the 2019 Audi A1 is fitted with Audi’s new Virtual Cockpit inside, similar to the one offered in the A8. An 8.8-inch MMI touch Infotainment system comes standard while a 10.1-inch setup is optional. Safety features like lane departure warning, pre-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control are offered with the A1.
The previous Audi A1 didn’t fare too well in the UAE and GCC, and was cancelled early here. So it is unlikely to be brought back.
