2022 Mazda MX-5 gets a mild update and a new suspension
Mazda MX-5 or the Miata is easily one of the most recognized and revered roadsters in the world. The Miata is in its fourth-generation and is stepping into its seventh year. For 2022 it comes with a bunch of small changes to make it more engaging.
The MX-5 is a tried and tested formula and Mazda has not fiddled with it much for the new year. On the skin, nothing is new. But that does not mean the engineers at Mazda were sitting idle. They have created a new Kinematic Posture Control system for the suspension of the 2022 Mazda MX-5.
The KPC analyzes the speed difference between the rear-right and rear-left wheels while hard cornering. It then brakes the inside wheel to reduce body roll and corrects the posture of the roadster. The MX-5 is known for its lightness and the fanatics will be glad to know that the new system adds zero pounds.
If you want to shave off a bit more, a Japan-exclusive 990S Special Edition is also available. This model comes with 16-inch forged RAYS wheels, making the car lighter by 3.2 kgs. It also gets upgraded brakes with Brembo discs, 6-speed manual transmission, tweaked steering, and engine. This edition tips the scales at just 990 kilograms, hence its name.
