Video of the week: Indian driving test

There are allegations of racism and colonial mentality when it comes to transferring a foreign driving licence to a local one here. But given how driving tests in countries such as India are conducted, along with experience only in random low-speed unstructured traffic, maybe the bias is a good thing in this case.

BMW insists that their X5 is an offroader. We found out otherwise. A couple of people in Turkey found out the hard way. To make matters worse, the people in this video aren’t too bright either, with an overweight passenger who refuses to get off even while three out-of-shape kids are trying to push a tank.

Video of the week: 4×4 versus small car

Despite advances in safety among compact cars, research is continuing to prove that passengers in a 4×4 are more likely to survive than those in a small compact car in a high-speed crash. We didn’t attend because it was simply a cheesy publicity stunt, but as soon as Bin Sulayem hit the track against a Ford GT, the car promptly spun out into the wall along the pit-lane, and a wheel came off from the crash. A Renault statement apparently says the car is “lightly damaged” and he is fine. More here.
