Porsche has set a new record for road legal sports cars on the famous 20.6-kilometre Nürburgring Nordschleife in the 911 GTS RS on September 20. The record time of 6 minutes and 47.3 seconds was achieved in the presence of a notary and surpassed even Porsche’s own expectations.
Porsche has taken the wraps off the most powerful road-going 911 ever produced. Called the GT2 RS, it slips in as a halo model to the iconic sports car range which sold more than a million units since its inception 55 years ago.
Another day, another Porsche 911 variant. We’ve pretty much lost track of these “new” models since 2005, as the German firm kept churning out version after version of the same car, with minor differences between each model. The latest variant is the 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS.
